VIDEO: Walsh speaks in response to Jordan Hill's comments - I don't play bad rookies

So this is what D'Antoni had to say in response to Jordan Hill's comments recently about being benched in NY.

“…D’Antoni became defensive Sunday when told that former Knick and current Houston Rockets rookie Jordan Hill said he wasn’t given “the opportunity” to play during his tenure in New York. Hill was dealt to Houston by the Knicks during a three-team deal Feb. 18.

“I don’t like to play bad rookies , I like to play good rookies,” D’Antoni said before Houston met the Knicks Sunday at MSG…”

And this is what Jordan Hill said:
The response was in regards to a comment from Hill from this piece from the Houston Chronicle:

“…Coach D’Antoni, he relies on his veterans more than rookies. He feels like his rookies need to learn more their first year so they could get everything down pat. I understood. I just

Poll: Fire D'Antoni or Cut him some slack?

Mar 21, 2010 - 9:58 PM - by nycballer
nycballer's Avatar Criticism of Mike D'Antoni is growing in recent weeks and much of the negative feelings are understandable.

Many people against D'ANtoni (now clamoring for his dismissal) believe that he has done a terrible job since taking the helm. Poor rotations/substitutions, not getting along with players, sitting the rookies in a sub 30 campaign, etc. All of these are good arguments against D'ANtoni and should not be overlooked.

Having said that I do think that we must all remember to have reasonable and realistic expectations of what we should expect out of D'Antoni over the past two years given the myriad of kaleidoscopic roster issues that he has had to deal with.

I personally believe that D'ANtoni is a very good coach and he needs and deserves at least one superstar (as do most teams/coaches) to succeed. As such, I think it's not fair to judge him until after next year.

To throw fuel onto the fire in this debate here is a clip of D'Antoni just before today's game addressing Jordan Hill's comments about D'Antoni not giving him a chance. D'Antoni's reply: I don't play bad rookies.

One of the players that Lebron would love to play with in New York......

Mar 21, 2010 - 8:22 PM - by Boogie Man
Boogie Man's Avatar A Scary Thought: Even with March Madness consuming most basketball fans at the moment free agency 2010 in the NBA remains a hot topic. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and many others are going to be free agents and the big question is where will everyone end up?
The franchise that has hopes of accomplishing the most this summer is definitely the New York Knicks. For two years now they've been working diligently to position themselves to make a run at LeBron James first and foremost. They have contingency plans, but ultimately they'd like to sign the league's biggest star above all else.
ESPN.com's Ric Bucher may have shed some light on what the Knicks need to do in order to sign King James away from the only NBA team he's ever played for in the Cleveland Cavaliers. According to Bucher signing Atlanta Hawks' shooting guard Joe Johnson would be "a very good place to start".
It's not surprising that James thinks so highly of Johnson. While Johnson may not be... [Read More]

OT: Lebron - I have to do what's best for my family

Mar 21, 2010 - 1:14 PM - by nycballer
nycballer's Avatar LeBron James hasn't spoken candidly about his upcoming free agency this season, but he opened up a little bit recently.

He was asked by a reporter why he wouldn't just say he's happy in Cleveland and that he wants to stay.

"At the end of the day, it is still a business," he said.

"This isn't high school basketball anymore. You have to do what is best for your family and what is best for yourself. I've always said I love being in Cleveland. But for me as a basketball player, no matter what happens, I love to play the game. I play it with a joy and I love my teammates."
