Knicks: No plan to honor Nate

From NY POST:

BOSTON -- Nate Robinson already has faced the Knicks at the new Boston Garden, just five days after his trade to Beantown, so tonight's game is nothing new. What Robinson has circled on his calendar is his first visit to Madison Square Garden in Celtics green on April 6.

Unlike the wonderful montage video tribute afforded Eddie House on his return to Boston on Feb. 23, the Knicks have no plans to honor Robinson's nearly five-season stint in any tribute, according to a team source.

The 5-foot-7 ½ athletic freak warred with coach Mike D'Antoni but arguably was their most popular player for the past two seasons. Fans still populate the Garden stands wearing his old "4" jersey.

NATE FITS IN FOR BOSTON

The free-agent-to-be was traded partly as a favor to agent Aaron Goodwin and partly to open room for rookie-on-the-rise Toney Douglas, though Sergio Rodriguez was given first opportunity at starting point guard and flopped.

The only thing Robinson won other than Knicks fans' hearts were a record three Slam-Dunk titles.... [Read More]

JR Giddens likes his laffy taffy

nycballer's Avatar J.R. Giddens shook that Laffy Taffy

"[I cut back on] everything," he said. "I cut back on the Skittles, the Sour Patch, the Laffy Taffy, the Twizzlers, the Gummi Bears. The list is endless. I could eat anything. I would eat candy all day, every day. I only eat it every now and then. Maybe if I’ve got a hotel room on the road, I might attack some Gummi Bears and maybe some M&Ms."

I'm calling JR Giddens Laffy Taffy from now on.

NCAA TOURNEY: Guards to watch who might go early 2nd round in the draft

Mar 18, 2010 - 1:31 PM - by nycballer
nycballer's Avatar Jimmer Fredette, Junior, PG, BYU - Think Stephen Curry where he's the focal point of offense on non top tier team (BYU & Davidson similarities). He's not super athletic but he could possibly be the 2nd best PG in the draft. He is crafty, has a good first step and can shoot lights-out from anywhere on the court.

Tyshawn Talyor, Soph, G, Kansas -
Think of Jrue Holiday. He's got good defensive skills and is an OKAY shooter.

ESPN source: Lebron wants to team up with Joe Johnson?

Mar 18, 2010 - 1:22 PM - by nycballer
nycballer's Avatar This is especially interesting since JJ has already expressed an interest in playing for the Knicks (see: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knick...ICT3nwHHGRonyH)...

FROM ESPN (Ric Bucher):

“Joe Johnson may not be the big free agent signing Knicks fans have in mind this summer, but if it’s LeBron James they want, a league source says the Hawks’ shooting guard is a very good place to start. While the general public doesn’t seem to regard Johnson on par with Dywane Wade and Chris Bosh…James apparently does, which makes sense: Johnson wouldn’t battle LeBron for marketing dollars the way Wade might, and yet is a proven closer, which Bosh, for all his talent, is not.”

SI: Big Men The Knicks Got, But A Team They Ain't

As if we haven't had it up to here with team disunity in this still young NBA season—what with Dave Cowens threatening to eat the next Celtic who refuses to dive for a loose ball, and Coaches Gene Shue and Bob Hopkins getting the boot in Philadelphia and Seattle—now we are hearing cries of agony and shrieks of insanity from—where else?—New York City.

Last week the Knickerbockers were picking up the act, parlaying their potential for unmatched torrents of offense and junior high school defense into the latest hot property for a Mel Brooks comedy. They opened the week with an 18-point home win over Houston, lost by 17 to the same team in Texas the next night, followed that with a 120-116 loss at San Antonio and then returned to the supposedly friendly confines of Madison Square Garden on Saturday to put on a show of total ineptitude, losing 115-108 to the baby Milwaukee Bucks. By the end of the week the Knicks were 11-11, feuding and fussing, and their new coach, the 35-year-old former Knick superhero Willis Reed, was totally... [Read More]
